My Review:

With both quality & performance, this is a very nice EV charger with thick cables and high output.

This home EV charger by ShockFlo, is a well-made, high quality charger. It works great, weather your car can handle 48 Amps or only 12, this charger will leave you satisfied that you have a high capacity, feature rich choice. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying.

      I.          Quality –All the materials seem to be very nice and it presents itself as a top quality choice. I’d put this one in the upper tier of the quality scale for EV chargers and guess it’ll perform great for a long time.

    II.          Installation – This one is a little unique in that it claims that you can hardwire it to the breaker box or just plug it in with a NEMA 14-50 plug like most others. I haven’t investigated the hardwire choice with this one, because I already have a NEMA 14-50 outlet. The hardwire option is more difficult than the plug in type if you already have a NEMA 14-50 plug, but overall, it’s not that hard or complex, just make sure you know what you doing. If you don’t have an existing plug, the hardwire option is easier.

  III.          Performance – With the ability to charge at 48 Amps, you can pull a lot of juice for a home charger. Most others are 40 Amp at best and my included Tesla charger pulls 32 Amps. It works great with the app, being waterproof and having intelligent features. It also can charge at many levels below 48 Amps if your car can’t take that many juice or if you want to set it up to charge only as fast as needed for better longevity of the batteries. This device is completely reliant on the app for access to the features. With the app, you can use many helpful features like scheduling and power adjustments. It comes with a modern and attractive look that includes a light that will tell you what the chargers doing easily.

  IV.          Cable Length – On a slightly negative note, the charging cable is only 17ft. This is much shorter than many others that are 25-30 ft. As long as your parking within 17 feet of the plug then it won’t matter. However, the cables are very thick and great quality. The thicker cables should cut down on excessive heat and energy lose.

Overall, this is a great choice in the world of home EV chargers. It charges super-fast at up to 48 Amps, with class and quality. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it.
